 Botulinum toxin and migraine
Dear Dr. Schneiderhan,

I read about your Botulinum treatment in the press. I have been suffering from recurrent migraine attacks since the birth of my daughter. Can this treatment help me at all ?

botulinumtoxin and migraine Answer: Botulinum toxin and migraine
Dr. Schneiderhan:

The Botulinum toxin treatment is used for chronic muscle tension in the area of the cervical spine and in the neighbouring spinal segments. The pre-condition is that the muscular factor is obviously predominant. If the neurological examination resulted in a clear diagnosis of migraine then I would see no indication to carry out the treatment with Botulinum toxin. It has come to our notice when talking to patients that when migraine is diagnosed, it is connected with headaches or is caused by problems in the cervical spine. In connection with this I would recommend that you send me the medical report of the last neurological examination, and if available EMG results as well as any other diagnostic pictures of the cranium or cervical spine. After receiving this information we would be pleased to get into contact with you again
