Tingling and pain in fingers and lower arm
Hallo,

For the last six months I have had disturbances in the sensitivity of the left hand up to the elbow and in the feet up to knee level. The condition could be described as numbness or tingling just like when the arms or legs go to sleep.

This has increased in the mean time into aching pain from the fingers (beginning on the outside) into the wrist
(radiating to the elbow) and has been occurring more and more also on the right during the last four weeks.
As I suspected a connection to the spine I consulted an orthopaedic surgeon. He could not recognise any problems on the X-ray picture and transferred me to a neurologist. An inflammation of the nerves was identified as the conduction velocity of the nerves was reduced. The cause was said to be working on the computer.
This, however does not help me, as in spite of doing less work the pain has increased. Do you have a more extensive diagnosis and different types of treatment or a idea of who I can consult?
Thank you very much in advance.
Kind regards.

tingling and pain Answer: Tingling and pain in fingers and lower arm
Dear Mr or Mrs P.S.,

With reference to the impaired sensitivity in the left hand up to the elbow, would you please send me the report of the results from the neurologist. An magnetic resonance scan of the cervical spine could possibly be required to make an exact diagnosis.
After receiving your information we will get in contact with you again. Thank you very much.

Yours sincerely,

Dr. med. R. Schneiderhan
